Sorry, this item has sold.

This is a tree wood carving that would make the best 50th wood anniversary gift present. I am Gary Burns the Treewiz and I carve everything in my shop. I don't do as many of these tree carvings as I used to. It's a little more difficult to hang onto the Dremel for as many hours as I did at one time. This is a fun scene with two Fir Trees living on the edge of a ravine. I love these scenes with rocky ravines. Some of my favorite times have been in the back country hanging out on an edge of a ravine or right down in the ravine, usually fishing! Carving scenes like this bring back great memories for me. These tree scenes make a very unique gift!! Betty Bird is hanging out in the kool shade under the largest Fir. Fun little carving.

You can check out my feedback to see what other customers have felt about their experience with me. And each time you click on the above picture you will see the the next picture out of the total of 9 pictures of this piece. Each time you click you can see another picture of close ups and different angles. There is a lot of detail in this carving! And it is rare for me to find these little burls with live edge all the way around. It's my favorite!!

This wall hanging measures 23" tall x 11 1/2" wide x 1 3/8" thick

It's a beautiful piece of Big Leaf Maple burl. This is my favorite wood to carve these tree scenes in. The grain is so fun to look at and the wood holds great detail!

The technique I use is called Pierced Relief. It is carved out of one piece of wood and nothing is added. I have been carving since 1971 and a tree was the first carving I did. I have always been stimulated to carve a resemblance of a tree out of a tree. My technique has evolved over all of these years to what you see here. I keep seeing ways to make things more life like. And I love a piece to look like it is in the middle of a story that each observer can make up. Sometimes a different story each time we look at it and sometimes the same one. I love giving a piece the feeling of action. Sometimes tranquil and sometimes playful. I love it all.

This piece is flat on the back and I have attached a metal self leveling hanger for hanging on the wall. I have signed it Wiz on the front.

My carvings take very little care. I have lacquered them to seal the wood so all that really needs to be done is dust. The best way is to use an air compressor. But a real feather feather duster can work as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.

When will I get my purchased carving?

I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.

How will my carving be shipped?

I use Priority United States postal service mail.

Do you ship outside of the US?

I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
