One-of-a-kind hand carved Maple Burl heart wall sculpture
This heart was carved from a beautiful piece of Maple burl with an exceptionally active grain pattern and coloring. This is a very rustic heart with many stories, as most of our hearts have. There's a natural hole in the left lobe that really gives this piece a lot of character.
There's a photo of the original slab, an in progress photo, a short video and photo of my shop/gallery.
The heart has a full, dimensional shape and measures approximately:
20" tall × 10 1/2" wide × 2" thick
It is finished with clear satin lacquer, which protects the wood while allowing the remarkable burl grain and natural colors to remain the focus.
A metal self-leveling hanger is already fastened to the back, so the heart arrives ready to hang.
Each of my hearts is individually carved by me in my workshop at the Tree Wizard Gallery in Port Orford, Oregon. I work with the natural character of each piece of wood rather than trying to make every heart alike. Knots, burl figure, spalting, bark pockets, voids and other irregularities often become some of my favorite parts of a finished carving.
This is the only heart exactly like this one.
It would make a meaningful piece of original wall art for someone who loves wood, nature and handmade work, and could also be a memorable wedding, anniversary, housewarming or “just because” gift.

All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.
I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.
I use Priority United States postal service mail.
I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
