This is an expensive Best of Etsy carved wood Oak Tree wood carving wall art wood sculpture gift. It would be a unique log cabin wall decor Anniversary gift. I am Gary Burns the treewiz and I carve everything in my shop. The measurements are 29" tall x 12 1/2" wide x 2" thick. It comes ready to hang on the wall. I recommend using a picture hanger or a dry wall screw. I carved it out of a piece of figured Big Leaf Maple. It is a wonderful piece of wood!
I call this carving "Reach for the Sky". The carving depicts a steady old Elm Tree passing it's time in woodland peace. I love being in the midst of these wonderful creatures. It makes me warm inside just to hang out around them. They offer shade, food and sanctuary for many. There is a lot of detail in this carving. It is my favorite kind of Tree to carve. I love the over all shape of this piece and how the tree fills the inside space. I haven't made an Elm Tree carving this size for years. I really enjoyed the challenge. There is just so much to look at for a piece this size.

This piece has Burl, Curly and some really fun figuring in the grain. A burl is usually caused by a trees reaction to an agro bacteria. It starts sending out a huge number of buds showing birds eye grain through out the burl. It is very unusual and is very interesting to look at. It is getting a lot harder to find!
The technique I use is called Pierced Relief. It is carved out of one piece of wood and nothing is added. I feel like I am at my peak in my career right now. I am 65 and have learned so much all these years. I started carving 1971 and a tree was the first carving I did. I have always been stimulated to carve a resemblance of a tree out of the wood of a tree. My technique has evolved over all of these years to what you see here. I keep seeing ways to make things more life like. And I love a piece to look like it is in the middle of a story that each observer can make a story about. Sometimes a different story each time we look at it and sometimes the same one. I sure enjoy carving!

I've carved more than 13,000 carvings since 1971 when I started and have sold all of those pieces all over the world. Making people happy with my work is my soul purpose. With Love and Gratitude! <(B^)
All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.
I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.
I use Priority United States postal service mail.
I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
